What's New in Discover Mobile 3.0
Discover mobile version 3.0 The latest release of Encom Discover Mobile delivers improvements to field data capture set-up and features. This includes improved handling of styles and quick pick options, plus improvements to structural mapping and GPS connectivity. Named Styles Automatically filters the list of displayed styles based on the capture object type. For example, when capturing a point object with either the GPS or drawing tools, only point styles will be listed. Style-specific automatic table assignments are now supported. For example, a geologist captures regional lag, soil (of various mesh sizes) and rock-chip samples. Upon selecting the appropriate sample type from the Named Styles library, not only is it assigned a preset symbol and colour, it will also be automatically added to the preset table for this style (e.g. all soil mesh sizes would be auto-added to a Soils table). Allows style-specific Quick-Pick options. For example, whilst three different soil sample styles (e.g. -20, -40 & -80#) may all be auto assigned to the same Soils table, they each have a unique Quick-Pick option auto-assigned to the Mesh size field in this table. GPS Added support for Trimble’s Current Estimated Accuracy (CEA) in both the Status Window and as a GPS-specific field. Additional Re-center Map menu option which places the Current Position cursor back back into the middle of the map screen. New Deviation X and Deviation Y GPS-specific fields. GPS-specific output (e.g. Map X & Map Y) can now be assigned to user defined custom fields (eg Easting and Northing) as Quick-Pick options. Updated Trimble components for TSIP and Windows Mobile 5.0. A new alert message appears when capturing data with the Trimble protocol, advising the user that the specified number of points have been calculated. The current map zoom level is now maintained when a GPS connection is established. The default scale will only be used when no tables are open in the map window. File Cloning a table from an existing table will now copy any Quick-Pick options associated with the original table. Recent Files now lists all recently used tables and geo sets. New files can be automatically added to a user-specified default location set via the Preferences>Directories option. Added scrollbars to the Named Styles and Quick-Pick dialogs. Structure Symbols The list of available structure symbols can now be fully customised by the user, to control which symbols are available and in what order. Browser Added a Reset Height option for returning row heights to their original setting. System Time and Date information can now be auto-assigned as Quick-Pick options. Bug Fixes The Preferences>GPS>Point capture>Tolerance Minimum values <1.0 are now preserved between restarts. Improved dynamic refresh of GPS status information in the map window. The automatic incrementing function for attribute fields remains synchronised with the table record count after a record is deleted. Decimal fields created within Discover Mobile now show the correct number of decimal places. The minimum row height for the Table Browser is set, so users cannot minimise a row to the point that it disappears. Fixed a bug causing the Select toolbar to disappear when Discover Mobile was minimized to the system tray and then restored. Added an option to Preferences>System Settings to allow the default font size to be increased to 18 point. Fixed object deletion causing Quick Pick incrimination to fail. Elimated the need for a manual screen refresh during connection to Trimble GPS receivers using TSIP protocol. Field type mismatches with Quick Pick options are ignored during object capture.
